Grace and peace to you, welcome to Sunday morning worship for December 4, 2022. I’m Rev. Joe Cailles, the pastor at Peakland United Methodist Church in Lynchburg Virginia. Today is the second Sunday in the season of Advent, our season to prepare the way of the Lord. We’ll be recording the Advent worship services here in the sanctuary throughout Advent, so that you can see how the sanctuary looks this happy season.
Today is communion Sunday, and you are welcome to participate later in the service. You’ll need a cup of grape juice and a bit of bread, enough for your household.
It's the tradition of Peakland and many churches to light candles during advent. As we light the candles, we remember that in the darkness, a light shines and grows in strength. Christ is that light, and we pray his light will grow stronger in us this season.
